Breast lift
Breast lift (mastopexia) is a surgical procedure during which the lowered or sagging breasts are reduced and raised at the same time, giving them a new shape. There are various factors that can cause sagging breasts. For instance pregnancy, breast-feeding, weight loss – but natural aging can cause it too. Skin is constantly losing its elasticity, as we age, therefore female breasts often lose their original shape.
Several plastical surgical techniques can be applied for breast lifting. These define the scarring and usually affect the shape.
With the circumareolar technique, we only cut around the nipple – with this technique, slight chest sagging can be corrected.
With the circumvertical technique, we cut around the nipple and cut vertically downwards (also called the Lejour-technique or lollipop-cut). This way almost every sagging can be fixed – but it should be but it should be noted that it may take weeks, sometimes months, after the operation for the vertical wound or scar protrudes and the breast takes on its final shape. In more severe cases we use a modified version of the reversed „T” shaped cut, the „J” or „mini-T” shaped one, which is also called the „Marchac’s mini-T”. We do not use the classic „bear mouth”-shaped, highly scar-forming technique.
